Alejandro Grimaldo set for Premier League move?
Written by Kieran Miller
Benfica‘s Alejandro Grimaldo has been linked with an ambitious move to Premier League giants, Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal have recently become keenly interested in left-back, Alejandro Grimaldo. Benfica have received a bid of €7m (£5m) for Grimaldo, The Centre Spot understands. Benfica are willing to let Grimaldo go, but whether Arsenal‘s £5m will be enough has not been decided.
The Gunners are suffering with a problem at Left-Back with Tierney being injury prone and Nuno Tavares most likely to exit on loan, Grimaldo is an excellent option. The Spaniard would be a great backup due to his superb work rate. Grimaldo like Arsenal’s other full-backs likes to go forward and Grimaldo has picked up 5 goals and 5 assists this season for the Portuguese side. Grimaldo‘s strengths are undoubtedly his playmaking, passing and free-kicks, so if Arsenal want to get the best out of Grimaldo they should seek to capitalize on his strengths.
Arsenal have been working efficiently under the radar recently to promptly get deals done, and this deal is one Mikel Arteta would like to get done quickly. Negotiations will intensify in the upcoming days.
If you haven’t watched Grimaldo play, some players who have a similar play style to him would be Jeremie Frimpong (Bayern Leverkusen), Mattia De Sciglio (Juventus) and Nuno Mendes (PSG). I would recommend watching Grimaldo as he’s a joy to watch, and his work rate would match what the work rate at Arsenal is like. He’d fit in exceptionally at the Gunners.
